Reference Manual Feedback: Need to provide improved explanation of how to correctly configure poller

    Details

    • Type: Task Task
    • Status: Closed
    • Priority: Minor Minor
    • Resolution: Complete
    • Affects Version/s: 1.0.4
    • Fix Version/s: 1.0.5, 2.0 RC1
    • Component/s: Core
    • Labels:
      None

      Description

The current Spring Integration reference manual gives an example of how to configure a poller to perform "long polling", thereby simulating event-driven behaviour. However, configuring a poller in this way actually leads to a memory leak unless the queue capacity on the task executor is explicitly set to zero, and an appropriate rejection policy (e.g. discard) is specified. Please see forum link for more details.

We need to be sure to include the update on the 1.0.x branch before resolving this.

Mat, thanks for the feedback and filing the issue. I practically used your example from the forum to explain what the issues might be and how the could be resolved.
