      Description

We use WebSphere Application Server in our production environment and have been encouraged to use the built in caching capabilities provided out of the box. In exploring this I found that WebSphere provides a DistributedMap that is an object cache it uses to maintain cached elements. It can be used to store, share, and distribute object instances across clustered applications.

However, there is no cool features that allow me to use the cache like I would EHCache with SpringModules. I propose that a new cache provider be added to the SpringModules cache that would provide declaritive/annotation driven caching while using the WebSphere DistributedMap under the covers.

I have an implementation that could serve as a starting point.
