      Description

      Hey Spring folks,

thanks for you great work on the framework.
      Got a small request:

I wanted to use Quartz however the version within spring is over 3 years old.
Could someone update that version to 1.8.4?

      Appreciated.

Yes, please get to at least Quartz 1.8.4 with the Spring 3.1 release.

Also, please consider getting to at least Quartz 1.6.6 in any future Sprint 3.0.x releases.

Also, please put something on the Spring roadmap to get to Quartz 2.x.

In case it's not obvious, that should have said "future Spring 3.0.x releases".

Quartz 2.0.0 final is out, maybe this issue can be rescheduled for Spring 3.1.

There is a migration guide available here.

Attaching a patch org.springframework.context.support-quartz_2.0.0_support.patch which adds support for Quartz 2.0.0 but breaks compatibility with previous Quartz versions. Existing tests updated. This patch does not include version update in build configuration files - Quartz 2.0.0 is not available (yet) in Spring EBR. Patch includes very little changes to javadoc, more surelly needed.

Scheduling the dependency upgrade to Quartz 1.8.x for the Spring 3.1 timeline. Quartz 2.0 will be for consideration in Spring 3.2, due to significant API changes.
