STS fails when I use "Open File" command for an XML file

      Description

      When I try to use the "Open File" command to open an external XML file I get the following error: "Could not open the editor: Invalid Input: Must be IFileEditorInput"

      I workaround this problem by copying the file into a project and then open it from within the project.
