It would be great to have the choice to build "AngularJS" web layer, in addition to already existing ones : "mvc", "jsf", "gwt", ...

Knowing that Spring-roo already has all the server part REST/Json compliant plus a toolkit of MDA code-generators, and that AngularJS offers all the client part REST/Json plus a rich MVC ... connecting the two technologies might not be such a big gap, but a very promising step forward.

An initial step could be to generate simple crud javascript controler pages (as a replacement of list.jspx, view.jpx, update.jspx, create.jspx...).

It is a fantastic idea!

Javascript it seems to be the present and future of frontend development and AngularJS is very powerful so it is a good combination.

To expand, creating a single-page web application (Angular's forte) plus websockets would be ideal. Angular's Controller & Service patterns correlate nicely with Spring MVC endpoints for RESTful projects. Example with Spring 4 & Angular: http://g00glen00b.be/spring-websockets-angular/

Additionally: While Angular's REST components ($http, $resource) might be a bit low-level, leveraging coding-by-convention will allow a more intuitive component like RestAngular: https://github.com/mgonto/restangular/blob/master/README.md

TL;DR: Single-page RESTAngular + Websockets application = Yay

I just came across https://jhipster.github.io/ for this job.
